Getting Started
What is WingBeerSpecials? #
WingBeerSpecials is a free map of wing, beer and food specials at restaurants and bars across Ontario. Open the map, see what's on tonight near you, and go.
We cover thousands of Ontario restaurants. Deals come from the restaurants themselves and from their published menus and pages, and customers help keep them honest by confirming which ones are still running.
Do I need an account to browse specials? #
No. The map, every restaurant page and every special are free to browse with no account and no sign-up.
An account only becomes useful when you want your saved spots to follow you between devices, or you want alerts when a restaurant posts a new deal. You can even save deals without one — they're kept on your device and move to your account automatically if you sign up later.
How do I create an account? #
You can sign up with Google in one tap, or with an email address and password.
- Open WingBeerSpecials and tap the account icon in the top bar.
- Choose Continue with Google, or enter your email and a password.
- If you signed up with email, check your inbox for the confirmation link and tap it.
- You're in. Anything you saved before signing up moves across automatically.
Why do I need to verify my age? #
WingBeerSpecials lists alcohol specials, so you have to be of legal drinking age (19+ in Ontario) to use it. The first time you visit, we ask you to confirm that — one tap, and we remember it on that device so you're not asked again.
Please drink responsibly. If you or someone you know has a problem with alcohol, ConnexOntario is available 24/7 at 1-866-531-2600.
How do I add WingBeerSpecials to my phone's home screen? #
It installs straight from your browser — no App Store, no download, about ten seconds. Once installed it opens like a regular app.
On iPhone (Safari or Chrome):
- Tap the Share button — at the bottom of the screen in Safari, top right in Chrome.
- Tap "Add to Home Screen". If you don't see it, tap "View More" or scroll down in the share menu.
- Tap "Add" in the top right.
- Open WingBeerSpecials from your home screen — it looks and works like a regular app now.
Is there a WingBeerSpecials mobile app? #
There's no App Store or Play Store download — WingBeerSpecials installs directly from your browser instead. Add it to your home screen and you get the same thing: an icon, a full-screen app with no browser bar, and push notifications.
On iPhone this step isn't optional if you want alerts. Apple only lets a site send notifications once it's been added to the home screen.
Finding Deals
How do I find deals near me? #
The map opens on your area and shows what's on around you.
- Open WingBeerSpecials.
- Tap Find deals near me.
- Allow location access when your phone asks.
- Browse the pins and deal cards around you.
- Tap any restaurant to see its full listing.
How do I search for a specific restaurant? #
Use the search box in the top bar of the map and start typing the restaurant's name. Matches appear as you type — tap one to jump straight to it.
How do I search for a specific type of food? #
Use the What? filter for broad categories. It sorts every deal on the map into Wings, Beer, Happy Hour, Food and Drinks, so you can see just the category you're after.
For something more specific, type it into the search box in the top bar — sushi, lobster, poutine, whatever you're after. Search looks inside the deals themselves, not just restaurant names, so it still finds the dish when it's buried in the description of a special.
A few terms suggest themselves as you type. Most don't, and that's fine — finish typing and the map updates anyway. Results follow the map, so zoom out if you want to cover a wider area.
How do I find wing specials? #
Tap the What? filter and choose Wings. The map redraws with only wing deals — every other pin drops away.
How do I find beer specials? #
Tap the What? filter and choose Beer.
How do I find happy hour specials? #
Tap the What? filter and choose Happy Hour.
Pair it with the When? filter set to Live if you want happy hours that are running at this exact moment rather than all of them.
How do I find food specials? #
Tap the What? filter and choose Food. Drinks is a separate option for non-beer drink deals like cocktails.
How do I find deals in another city? #
Two ways, depending on whether you know where you're going.
- Type the city name into the search box and pick it from the results — the map flies there.
- Or just drag and zoom the map to anywhere in Ontario. Deals load for whatever area you're looking at.
How do I find deals for a specific day? #
Tap the When? filter and pick the day. You can choose any day of the week, or Today for tonight.
Most specials run on the same day every week, so a Tuesday filter shows you every place with a Tuesday deal.
How do I find deals happening right now? #
Tap the When? filter and choose Live — the option with the pulsing dot. It narrows the map to specials running at this exact moment, based on the day and time.
This is the one to use when you're already out and deciding where to go next.
How do I find the cheapest deals? #
Tap the Price filter and pick a bracket: Free / BOGO, Under $5, $5–$10, $10–$15, or $15+.
Free / BOGO at the top is where the buy-one-get-one and no-charge offers live.
How do I find free or BOGO deals? #
Tap the Price filter and choose Free / BOGO. That covers buy-one-get-one, 2-for-1 and anything free.
Using the Map
How do I use the WingBeerSpecials map? #
The map is the whole product. Each pin is a place with a deal that matches your filters. Tap a pin to see what's on, and tap through for the full listing.
The three filter chips across the top — When?, What? and Price — narrow what's shown. They stack, so you can ask for Wings, on Tuesday, under $10, and get exactly that.
What do the map pins mean? #
Orange dot — a restaurant with at least one deal matching your current filters.
Green circle with a checkmark — the owner has confirmed every one of their specials is accurate and current.
Orange truck — a food truck, showing where it's parked.
Orange heart — a place you've saved.
Zoom in and pins with two or more matching deals turn into a numbered bubble showing how many.
How do I zoom in and out? #
Pinch with two fingers on a phone or tablet. On a computer, scroll, or use the + and − buttons.
Zooming in is worth doing — deal counts only appear on the pins once you're close enough to read them.
How do I move around the map? #
Drag it with one finger, or click and drag on a computer. Deals reload for whatever area you move to — no button to press.
How do I open a restaurant from the map? #
Tap its pin. A card slides up with the deals on offer; tap that card to open the restaurant's full page.
How do I see how many specials a restaurant has? #
Zoom in. Once you're close enough, any place with two or more deals matching your filters shows the number right on its pin.
The count reflects your filters, not the restaurant's whole menu — so a pin showing 3 with Wings selected means three wing deals.
How do I use the "What?" filter? #
Tap What? and pick a category: All, Wings, Beer, Happy Hour, Food or Drinks. The map keeps only deals in that category.
Tap All to clear it.
How do I use the "When?" filter? #
Tap When? and choose All, Live, Today, or any day of the week.
Live means running right now, this minute. Today means anything on today, whether it's started yet or not.
How do I use the price filter? #
Tap Price and pick a bracket: Any, Free / BOGO, Under $5, $5–$10, $10–$15, or $15+.
Some deals are worded rather than priced — "half price wings", say — so a price filter will hide those. Set Price back to Any if you think you're missing something.
How do I see only deals that are on right now? #
Tap the When? filter and choose Live — the option with the pulsing dot next to it.
It checks the current day and time against each special's schedule, so what's left on the map is what you can walk in and order.
Why can't I see any deals? #
Almost always it's the filters. Each one you add removes pins, and three stacked filters can empty the map completely.
- Set When? to All.
- Set What? to All.
- Set Price to Any.
- If the map is still empty, zoom out — you may be looking at an area we don't have listings for yet.
- Check whether the Saved only chip is switched on. If it is, you're seeing only your saved places.
Restaurant Pages
How do I view a restaurant's specials? #
Tap its pin on the map and then tap the card that slides up, or search for it by name. Its page lists every special it runs, grouped by day.
How do I see all of a restaurant's weekly deals? #
Everything is on the restaurant's page, laid out day by day — so you can see at a glance that wings are Tuesday and pitchers are Thursday.
The map only ever shows you deals matching your current filters. The restaurant's own page always shows the lot.
How do I find a restaurant's address? #
It's near the top of every restaurant page, under the name.
How do I get directions to a restaurant? #
Tap Directions on the restaurant's page. It hands off to your phone's usual maps app with the address already filled in.
How do I call a restaurant? #
Tap the phone number on its page and your phone dials.
Worth doing before you drive over if a deal matters to you — restaurants change specials without telling anyone.
How do I see a restaurant's hours? #
Opening hours are listed on the restaurant's page, along with whether it's open right now.
How do I see what entertainment a restaurant has? #
If a restaurant has posted events, they appear on its page with the date and a badge saying what kind — live music, trivia, karaoke and so on.
Not every restaurant posts events. Ones that do are usually the places actively promoting their week.
Saving Your Favourite Spots
What is "My Spots"? #
My Spots is your own shortlist — every restaurant and deal you've saved, plus every restaurant you follow, in one panel.
Open it from the heart-and-bell button in the top bar of the map.
How do I save a restaurant? #
Tap the heart on the restaurant's card or page. It fills in, and the place shows up in My Spots and as a heart pin on the map.
How do I save a deal? #
Tap the heart on that individual deal. Saving one deal is different from saving the whole restaurant — useful when you only care about their Tuesday wings.
How do I find my saved restaurants and deals? #
Tap the heart-and-bell button in the top bar of the map to open My Spots. Everything you've saved or followed is there.
There's also a Saved only switch in that panel, which strips the map back to just your places.
What's the difference between saving and following? #
Saving (the heart) is a bookmark. It's quiet — nothing is sent to you, the place is just easy to find again.
Following (the bell) is a subscription. You get a notification whenever that restaurant posts a new deal.
You can do both, or either. Save the place you like; follow the place whose deals you don't want to miss.
How do I remove a saved restaurant or deal? #
Tap the filled heart again to unsave, either on the restaurant itself or on its card in My Spots.
Do my saves work without an account? #
Yes. Saving works straight away with no sign-up — your saves live on that device.
If you create an account later, everything you saved moves across automatically. The catch with staying signed out is that your saves can't follow you to another phone or laptop.
Following Restaurants & Notifications
What does it mean to follow a restaurant? #
Following a restaurant means you get a notification when it posts a new special — sent the moment the owner publishes it.
Following is free, on every restaurant. Restaurants on our Featured plan can also send their followers the occasional announcement, capped at one a day.
How do I follow a restaurant? #
Tap the bell on the restaurant's page or card and allow notifications when your phone asks.
How do I unfollow a restaurant? #
Tap the filled bell again, either on the restaurant or on its card in My Spots. The alerts stop immediately.
How do I turn on notifications? #
Notifications switch on the first time you follow something.
- On iPhone, add WingBeerSpecials to your home screen and open it from there.
- Find a restaurant you want alerts from.
- Tap the bell.
- Tap Allow when your phone asks about notifications.
How do I turn off notifications? #
To stop alerts from one restaurant, tap its bell to unfollow.
To stop everything at once, turn notifications off for WingBeerSpecials in your phone's own settings.
How do I know when a restaurant adds a new special? #
Follow it. When the owner publishes a special it goes out to followers straight away — there's no daily digest or delay.
Can I follow multiple restaurants? #
Yes, as many as you like. They're all listed in My Spots, and you can unfollow any of them from there.
Keeping Deals Accurate
How do I know if a deal is still available? #
Look for the green checkmark — that means the owner has confirmed it. Deals without one are still good information, they just haven't been confirmed recently.
Customers help too: the thumbs on each deal let people flag whether it was still on when they got there.
If a deal is the reason you're going, phone ahead. Restaurants change specials without telling anyone.
What does the verified badge mean? #
The green checkmark means the restaurant's owner has signed in and confirmed that special is accurate and currently running.
When every one of a restaurant's specials is verified, its map pin turns into a green circle with a checkmark.
How do I confirm that a deal is still active? #
If you're at the restaurant and the deal is on, tap the thumbs-up on it. That tells everyone looking at that deal today that someone has just seen it working.
How do I report a deal that is no longer available? #
Tap the thumbs-down on the deal. Enough of those and the deal gets flagged for our team to re-check.
It takes one tap and it's the single most useful thing you can do for the next person looking at that listing.
What's the difference between the thumbs-up and thumbs-down? #
Thumbs-up means "still on" — you saw this deal and it was real.
Thumbs-down means "gone" — you asked and it wasn't available.
Both feed the same purpose: keeping the map honest for whoever looks next.
What should I do if a restaurant's information is incorrect? #
Tell us and we'll fix it. Sign in, open your account page, and submit a ticket with the category Incorrect Data — say which restaurant and what's wrong.
You can also email [email protected].
Why might a deal have changed? #
Restaurants change their specials — seasons change, suppliers change, a Tuesday wing night quietly becomes a Wednesday one. They rarely announce it.
Restaurants that have claimed their listing update it themselves, so their deals stay current. For the rest we work from what they've published, plus customer thumbs, which is why the confirmations matter.

Account & Technical Help
How do I sign in? #
Tap the account icon in the top bar, then Continue with Google or enter the email and password you signed up with.
How do I reset my password? #
- Go to the sign-in screen.
- Tap Forgot password.
- Enter your email address.
- Open the reset link we email you.
- Choose a new password.
I didn't receive my verification email. What do I do? #
Check your spam or junk folder first — that's where it usually is.
Still nothing after a few minutes? Try signing up again with the same address, in case of a typo. If it still doesn't arrive, email [email protected] and we'll sort it out manually.
Continue with Google skips email confirmation entirely, if you'd rather not wait.
How do I update my account information? #
Open your account page from the account icon. You can change your display name and password there.
How do I delete my account? #
On your account page, scroll to the bottom and choose Delete my account.
This is permanent. Your saves, follows and notification settings go with it, and we can't restore them afterwards.
Why isn't my location working? #
Nearly always a permissions setting rather than a fault.
- Check that location services are on for your browser or for the WingBeerSpecials app in your phone's settings.
- If you tapped Block the first time we asked, clear it in your browser's site settings for wingbeerspecials.com.
- Reload the page and tap Find deals near me again.
- Still stuck? Search a city name instead, or drag the map — everything works without location, it's just a step slower.
Why aren't notifications working? #
On iPhone, the usual cause is that WingBeerSpecials is being opened in Safari rather than from the home screen. Apple only delivers notifications to installed apps — add it to your home screen and open it from that icon.
Otherwise check that notifications are allowed for WingBeerSpecials in your phone's settings, and that you've actually followed a restaurant — the bell has to be filled in.
Notifications only fire when a restaurant posts something new, so a quiet week is normal.
What do I do if the website isn't working properly? #
- Reload the page.
- Close the tab or app and reopen it.
- Check whether you're on a weak connection — the map needs data to load tiles.
- Try a different browser to see if the problem follows you.
- If it's still broken, tell us — a ticket from your account page or an email to [email protected]. Say what you tapped and what happened.
How do I contact WingBeerSpecials support? #
Two ways, both read by a person:
Email [email protected], or sign in and open a ticket from your account page — pick a category (Bug Report, Incorrect Data, Feedback, Feature Request or Other) and describe what happened.
Tickets are the better option if you want to follow the conversation, since replies land back in the same thread on your account page.
