Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Wing Beer Specials (WBS, we, us, the service) at wingbeerspecials.com, its subdomains, or any associated mobile application, you agree to these Terms of Service (Terms) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. About WBS
WBS is a platform for discovering food and drink specials at restaurants and food trucks, primarily in Ontario, Canada. We aggregate publicly available information from restaurant websites, social media, and public business directories, enrich it using automated extraction, and present it on an interactive map at /deals and on per-restaurant landing pages. Restaurant owners may claim their listing to manage it directly.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least the legal drinking age in your province (19 in Ontario) to use WBS. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement. The service is intended for residents of Ontario, Canada, although access from other jurisdictions is permitted subject to your local laws.
4. Accounts
Creating an account is optional. Core features — browsing, saving deals, and (where supported) subscribing to push notifications — work without signing up. When you do create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Keep your credentials secure
- Not share your account with others
- Be responsible for activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, abuses the service, or is used for automated scraping or any unlawful purpose.
4a. Anonymous use and device identifiers
To support account-free saves and notifications, your browser generates a random anonymous identifier (anon_id) on your first visit and stores it locally. This identifier is tied to the device you're using, not to your identity. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what we store against it.
A few consequences worth knowing:
- Shared devices. If you use a computer or phone that is also used by someone else, your saves and notifications on that device are visible to whoever is using it. Signing in with your own account is the only way to keep them separate.
- Clearing browser data (including your
localStorage) will detach this device from any anonymous saves you accumulated — they won't disappear from our servers immediately, but you'll no longer have a way to reach them unless you sign in before clearing. - Switching devices. Anonymous saves and notifications are per-device. To have the same set on your phone and laptop, sign in on both.
- Sign-in migration. When you create an account or sign in on a device that has anonymous saves, we transfer those saves to your account automatically. You don't have to do anything.
- Sign-out. When you sign out, we clear the local identifier, saved-deal cache, and push subscription reference on that device. Your account-synced saves remain safe on our servers.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access WBS beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt and Section 5a below
- Probe, attack, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Submit reviews, ratings, or content that is false, defamatory, harassing, or otherwise unlawful
- Impersonate another person, business, or entity
- Use WBS to violate any applicable law, including liquor laws, consumer protection laws, or intellectual property laws
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the service
- Use WBS to send unsolicited commercial communications to restaurants or users
5a. Data usage, scraping, and AI crawlers
Our public restaurant directory pages are indexable by standard search engines and AI systems. We explicitly permit AI training crawlers (for example, OpenAI's GPTBot, Anthropic's ClaudeBot, Google's Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, and similar services) to access our public content, subject to the terms below.
Citation required. If you use our restaurant directory data — whether for training an AI model, generating AI-assisted responses, publishing a search result, creating a summary, or any other derivative work — you must cite wingbeerspecials.com as the source and, where the medium permits, provide a clickable link to the relevant page. Our restaurant specials change frequently; directing readers to the live source ensures they receive current information rather than stale data.
Wholesale copying prohibited. Bulk scraping or wholesale reproduction of our database (or a substantial portion of it) for purposes that replace or directly compete with the service is not permitted without prior written consent. Individual page views, quoted excerpts with attribution, aggregate statistical use, and AI-assisted lookups that cite the source are welcome.
We reserve the right to block abusive crawlers. Automated systems that ignore robots.txt, consume disproportionate server resources, or attempt to circumvent our security controls may have their access restricted at our sole discretion, with no notice required.
6. Restaurant listings — accuracy disclaimer
WBS aggregates restaurant information from publicly available sources. Specials, hours, prices, and menu items may change without notice. We use automated scanning, AI extraction, and human moderation to keep the data fresh, but we cannot guarantee that every listing is current or accurate at any given moment.
7. Claiming a restaurant
If you are the owner, manager, or authorized representative of a restaurant or food truck, you may claim the listing through /claim. By claiming a listing you represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so.
Once verified (via SMS, voice call, or manual review), you may update hours, photos, contact info, and deal listings through the /manage or /manage-truck dashboards.
We may reject a claim, revoke a claim, or require re-verification if we receive a competing claim, detect fraud, or if the claim holder violates these Terms. If competing claims are submitted, we reserve the right to require additional documentation before deciding.
8. User-generated content
When you submit a review, rating, uploaded photo, or other content to WBS, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, reproduce, and use that content within the service and in promotional materials about the service. You retain ownership of your content.
You warrant that you own the content you submit or have permission to share it, and that the content does not violate any law or third-party right, including intellectual property and privacy rights.
We may moderate, reject, or remove any user-generated content at our discretion. Reviews or uploads flagged as violating our policies may be hidden or deleted without notice.
9. Featured subscriptions
Restaurant owners may subscribe to Featured, a paid tier that unlocks priority map placement, extended photo limits, detailed analytics, and other features described on /for-restaurants.
Billing
Featured subscriptions are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms and authorize recurring charges to your payment method at the billing frequency you select (monthly or annual).
Pricing
Current pricing is displayed on /for-restaurants and inside the /manage Billing tab. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. Continuing the subscription after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal, linked from your /manage Billing tab. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain Featured benefits until that date and will not be charged again.
Refunds
We generally do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at [email protected] within 30 days of the charge and we will investigate in good faith.
Taxes
Prices exclude any applicable taxes (HST, GST, or provincial sales tax), which will be added at checkout where required by law.
10. Intellectual property
The WBS name, logo, site design, software, icon set, and original content are our intellectual property or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written permission, except for reasonable personal and non-commercial use of the service as intended.
Restaurant names, menu items, logos, and photos posted on WBS remain the intellectual property of their respective owners. WBS makes no claim of ownership over third-party restaurant content displayed in listings.
11. Third-party services
WBS integrates with third-party services including Supabase (auth), Stripe (payments), Twilio (phone verification and transactional email via SendGrid), Cloudflare (CDN, DNS, and inbound email routing), Google (OAuth and, where applicable, geocoding), Protomaps and MapLibre (maps), and Anthropic's Claude API (for automated data extraction). Your use of these services through WBS is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.
12. Disclaimers
WBS is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including (but not limited to) merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We make no warranty that:
- Specials, prices, or hours on the service are current, accurate, or complete
- The service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Any particular special or promotion will be honoured by any particular restaurant
- The service meets your specific requirements
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WBS, its operators, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so these limitations may not apply in full to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WBS and its operators from any claim, damage, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the service, or (c) content you submit to the service.
15. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time through your /account settings or by contacting support. We may terminate or suspend your account for any violation of these Terms, for fraudulent or unlawful use, or for operational reasons (such as retiring a feature), generally with reasonable notice where practical.
Upon termination, your access to account-gated features (saving deals, managing a restaurant, subscriptions) will end. The Privacy Policy governs what happens to your data.
16. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on the WBS changelog accessible from the landing page BETA badge, and the effective date at the top of this page will change. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and WBS regarding the service and supersede any prior agreements.
